In 2009, Lori earned a Master of Science in Nursing and graduated as an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). As a board-certified AGPCNP, Lori has evaluated and treated patients with diverse mental health concerns over the past 13 years. Lori earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree in 2016 from UCCS and served as the Adult-Gerontology Option Coordinator and Assistant Professor from 2017-2020. During her time at UCCS, Lori taught a variety of courses to Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner students and a summer course to Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner students. The opportunity of teaching and mentoring students at UCCS was a rewarding and heartfelt experience that remains the highlight of her career.

Lorraine Mattingly Headshot

Due to the shortage of mental health providers, Lori decided to pursue a Post-Master’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Johns Hopkins University, School of Nursing, located in Baltimore, Maryland. She thoroughly enjoys working with patients 18 years and older, and understands the unique mental health challenges of the geriatric population. Being dual-certified offers an opportunity to identify potential medical conditions that may be impacting a person’s mental health.

Calming Waters Psychiatry offers psychiatric evaluations, medication management, patient education, and supportive psychotherapy for ADHD, anxiety, bipolar disorders, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, panic attacks, personality disorders and PTSD. Treatment is customized to the uniqueness of each individual.

As a spouse of a retired military member, it is always an honor to provide mental health services to active duty members, veterans, and family members alike. Thank you for your service! Lori’s practice philosophy is, “Working Together to Optimize Your Mental Health and Well-Being.” I look forward to the opportunity of sharing your mental health journey at Calming Waters Psychiatry.
Best regards,
Lori.
